Tiger-Cats: November 2011

  • Nov 5, 2011 – Former Ticat wide receiver Arland Bruce moves to 13th on the all-time receiving yards list, passing former Ticat great Earl Winfield.
  • Nov 5, 2011 – Ticats will face Alouettes at Olympic Stadium in the Eastern Semi-Final on November 13th at 1pm.
  • Nov 3, 2011 – Tiger-Cats (16) lose to the Toronto Argonauts (33) at Rogers Centre. With a playoff birth already clinched, the Ticats rested several of their regular starters, including Avon Coburne. All three of the Ticats quarterbacks seen playing time, including Kevin Glenn, Quinton Porter, and Jason Boltus.
  • Nov 2, 2011 – Hamilton Tiger-Cats nominees for the 2011 CFL Most Outstanding Player Awards:
    • Most Outstanding Player: Justin Hickman
    • Most Outstanding Defensive Player: Justin Hickman
    • Most Outstanding Canadian: Dave Stala
    • Most Outstanding Lineman: Peter Dyakowski
    • Most Outstanding Rookie: Chris Williams
    • Most Outstanding Special Teams Player: Justin Medlock

Tiger-Cats: October 2011

  • Oct 29, 2011 – Tiger-Cats (3) lose to the Saskatchewan Roughriders (19) at Mosaic Stadium. Ticats started Quinton Porter at quarterback in the first half, but he only mustered up 53 passing yards. Kevin Glenn replaced Porter to start the second half. Glenn moved the ball more effectively, but threw 4 interceptions, including 2 in the endzone.
  • Oct 26, 2011 – Tiger-Cats add import running back Daniel Porter to the practice roster.
  • Oct 25, 2011 – Ticats kicker Justin Medlock captures ‘Special Teams Player of the Week’ for his performance in week 17 vs the BC Lions.
  • Oct 22, 2011 – Tiger-Cats (42) defeat the BC Lions (10) in the final home game of 2011 at Ivor Wynne Stadium. Tiger-Cats kicker Justin Medlock scored 24 points, including 7 field goals, and 3 extra points. Ticats linebacker Ray Mariuz returned an interception for a touchdown on a failed Paul McCallum fake punt attempt, the first touchdown of Mariuz’s Career. Tiger-Cats fullback Agustin Barrenechea caught the first pass of his career for 38 yards.
  • Oct 22, 2011 – Former Ticats Pete Neumann and Paul Osbaldiston are addd to the Tiger-Cats Wall of Honour at Ivor Wynne Stadium.
  • Oct 20, 2011 – CFL fines Hamilton Tiger-Cats coach Marcel Bellefeuille $1,000 for disparaging comments made regarding league officials.
  • Oct 18, 2011 – Tiger-Cats add import defensive linemen Angelo Craig and Robert Rose, and import defensive back Rayshaun Kizer to the team’s practice roster.
  • Oct 18, 2011 – Former Ticat great Tommy Grant passed away at the age of 76. Grant was inducted onto the Tiger-Cats Wall of Honour in a ceremony last season, and into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in 1995.
  • Oct 16, 2011 – Tiger-Cats clinch playoff spot.
  • Oct 16, 2011 – Tiger-Cats (25) lose to the Montreal Alouettes (27) at Percival Molson Stadium in Montreal. Ticat quarterback Kevin Glenn was benched in favour of Quinton Porter after just one offensive series, but returned and played the majority of the second half before leaving in the last minute of the game with an injury. Ticats runningback Terry Grant suffered a broken ankle in the first quarter. Ticats Kicker Justin Medlock made 4 of 6 field goals.
  • Oct 16, 2011 – Hall of Fame announces that former Tiger-Cat runningback Eric Lapointe will be inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame as part of the 2012 class.
  • Oct 12, 2011 – Ticats add import defensive lineman T.J. Langley, import defensive backs Phillip Davis, and Chaz Thompson to the practice roster. Ticats also release import offensive lineman Nick Claytor and import defensive tackle Albert Smith.
  • Oct 11, 2011 – Tiger-Cats trade Maurice Mann to the Toronto Argonauts in exchange for import defensive back Dee Webb and a conditional pick in the 2013 CFL Canadian Draft.
  • Oct 7, 2011 – Tiger-Cats (17) lose to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers (33) at Ivor Wynne Stadium. Hamilton’s offence couldn’t get anything going in the first three quarters, prompting the Ticats make a quarterback change, Kevin Glenn was replaced by Quinton Porter. Porter led a 71-yard scoring drive over 57 seconds to start the fourth, hitting Williams for a 28-yard touchdown. Porter also added rushing touchdown.
  • Oct 4, 2011 – Ticats release import defensive back Ryan Jones, and import defensive lineman Justin Mincey.
  • Oct 1, 2011 – Tiger-Cats (27) defeat the Toronto Argonauts (12) at Rogers Centre in Toronto. Tiger-Cats runningback Terry Grant had 10 carries for 115 yards and a touchdown.

Tiger-Cats: September 2011

  • Sept 29, 2011 – Tiger-Cats sign import receiver Courtney Smith to the practice roster.
  • Sept 27, 2011 – Veteran Canadian linebacker Ray Mariuz has come out of retirement to re-join the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
  • Sept 27, 2011 – Tiger-Cats sign import defensive linemen Jerry Brown and Justin Mincey, along with import defensive backs Ryan Jones and Woodny Turenne to the practice roster.
  • Sept 27, 2011 – Tiger-Cats receiver/kick returner Marcus Thigpen captured the CFL’s Special Teams Player of the Week. Thigpen returned a missed field goal 118 yards for a touchdown.
  • Sept 26, 2011 – Tiger-Cats trade the rights to non-import LB Jadon Wagner and a fourth-round draft pick in 2013 in exchange for import defensive back Milt Collins and a fifth-round pick in the 2013 CFL Canadian Draft from the Calgary Stampeders.
  • Sept 25, 2011 – Tiger-Cats (55) defeat the Calgary Stampeders (36) in the CFL Touchdown Atlantic game at Moncton Stadium. The Tiger-Cats scored over 50 points for the first time in 12 years. Kevin Glenn completed 16 of 23 passes for 276 yards and 3 touchdowns. Marcus Thigpen caught 6 passes for 139 yards and 2 touchdowns, Thigpen also returned a missed field goal 118 yards for a touchdown. Rookie runningback Terry Grant had 5 carries for 23 yards and a touchdown as well as 3 receptions for 53 yards and a touchdown.
  • Sept 15, 2011 – The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have added non-import offensive lineman Adam Rogers to the team’s practice roster.
  • Sept 14, 2011 – Former Hamilton Tiger-Cats long-snapper Jordan Matechuk has been sentenced to 90 days in jail after pleading guilty in July to possession of steroids.
  • Sept 13, 2011 – The Toronto Argonauts sign former Tiger-Cat Receiver Prechae Rodriguez.
  • Sept 13, 2011 – Tiger-Cats have release David Hyland.
  • Sept 11, 2011 – Tiger-Cats (13) lose to the Montreal Alouettes (43) at Percival Molson Stadium in Montreal. Ticats kicker Justin Medlock hit a 57 yard field goal that tied a Ticat record.
  • Sept 05, 2011 – Tiger-Cats (44) defeat the Montreal Alouettes (21) in the 2011 Labour Day Classic at Ivor Wynne Stadium in Hamilton. Ticat runningback Avon Coburne had 19 carries for 102 yards and 2 touchdowns. The Tiger-Cats defense held the Alouettes to just 7 offensive points (two field goals and a single).
  • Sept 04, 2011 – The Hamilton Tiger-Cats release import defensive tackle Ventrell Jenkins.
  • Sept 04, 2011 – The Hamilton Tiger-Cats signed import offensive lineman Nick Claytor to the practice roster.
  • Sept 04, 2011 – Former Tiger-Cat linebacker Otis Floyd officially announced his retirement from the CFL after 11 seasons.
  • Sept 02, 2011 – The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have signed import defensive back Loyce Means to a practice roster agreement.
